Hackathon?

A hackathon is a full-day event where students imagine, design, develop, and present a product from scratch (and win cool prizes). The goal is for teams to take an idea from inception to completion in 24 hours and present their accomplishments.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Any high school student (Grades 9-12 Public, Independent, or Home-Schooled) is eligible to participate.

DO YOU NEED CODING EXPERIENCE?

No. Anyone is welcome, regardless of your skill level or previous experience. You will have a chance to develop your programming skills at the event.

DOES IT COST MONEY?

Nope. The event is entirely free.

CAN YOU SLEEP?

Yes, there will be a space for you to sleep. You must bring your own sleeping bag.

CAN YOU GO HOME?

Yes. However, the doors will close at night. It is recommended that you stay the entire time to make the most of the experience.

HOW CAN YOU GET HERE?

We will pick attendees up in buses from nearby BART Stations (Walnut Creek, Dublin/Pleasanton). There is also free parking at the event.

DO I NEED A TEAM TO APPLY?

We can assign teams or you can bring a team (3-4 people). Each member must make their own registration and link with their team after in the assignment portal.

ARE THERE PRIZES?

There are over $15,000 worth of prizes that will be distributed at the event.

FOOD:

There will be food served at the event courtesy of our sponsors. If you have any special dietary restrictions or allergies, we will try our best to accommodate.

COMMUNICATION:

Communication throughout the event will be handled through Slack. We will have QR codes and links for you to enter the workspace at the event, however it is advisable to sign up for an account beforehand.

WHAT TO BRING:

You should come prepared with:

  • Student ID

  • Laptop & Accessories

  • Any medication/special food

  • Warm Clothing & Sleeping Bag

  • Hygiene products

  • Toothbrush and toiletries

  • Energy to learn!
